“The Setting Sun”

I sat and watched the setting sun,
And knew the day was nearly done,
I thought about the hours past,
And knew the things I’d done would last.

I watched the sun begin to fade,
And felt the images I had made,
I had painted stories with my eyes,
I had preserved them all, their very lives.

And as the sun went out of sight,
I felt the coldness of the night,
I remembered those who led me here,
I felt the power, the love, the fear.

And soon the sun shall rise again,
And I, another day begin,
I will look for others near and far,
And help them reach that distant star.

To work with film, exposure, and light,
To fill the void and give them sight,
Be a giver, not a taker,
And help them be an image maker.
